The April
meeting of the Cluster Committee was held at the
home to Wally and Carol Sommerfelt.
Members present were: the Sommerfelts,
Catherine Bell, Paula Smiddy from the TVKC and
David Miller, Donna Burchi, Janie McDonald, Pat
Hodges and
Debby Sharp from ORKC. This was a quorum.
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was
called to order at 7:05 p.m., by the chairman.
APPROVAL OF
MINUTES
The minutes of
the previous meeting, as received by each member
of the board, was approved.
DISCUSSION OF
PLANS FOR THE SHOW
The following
items were discussed: May 2, 2010, is the
deadline for placing an ad in the August,
September and October issues of the AKC Gazette.
The cost of a full page is $850. A half
page ad is $475. It was moved, seconded
and
RESOLVED, to
place a half-page ad in the Gazette. Donna
Burchi and Catherine Bell to follow up.
Linda Pitts,
with Catherine Bell assisting, is planning a
party Saturday night during the cluster with the
cost being not more than $50 per person. Proceeds
from this event will go to a charitable cause to
be decided by the committee and Linda Pitts at a
later date.
There was
discussion on the feasibility of having Red
Cross First Aid classes available for a fee on
several days during the cluster.
Availability of space for this project and the
schedule of the Red Cross will be determining
factors.
Oak Ridge has
provided a logo for use on trophies that club
will offer.
Classes for those
wishing to be stewards will be held during the
summer.
Rules and
regulations to be printed in the catalog are due
to be given to Catherine Bell by the next
cluster meeting. There was discussion on
some items that needed to be included and
suggestions were made.
ADVERTISING
Members of both
clubs may place one-half page ads in the catalog
at the cost of $40 which included one
photograph. A quarter page ad will be
$25.
VENDOR CONTRACT
The vendor
contract was reviewed. (copy filed with
minutes). If a contract is cancelled prior
to October 15 the penalty will be $50. If
the contract is cancelled between October 15 and
November 1, 2010, the penalty will be 50% of the
contract. No refunds will be given after
November 1, 2010.
OTHER BUSINESS
The Whippet Club
will support their entry at these shows and
sweepstakes will be held in this breed.
Ladd’s Golf Carts
are available for rent at $50 per day.
Contact information for this vendor will be
included in the premium list.
It was moved,
seconded and
RESOLVED,
that the Cluster Committee would authorize the
purchase of two booster
tubs for use at
the shows. Funds for this will be taken
from the cluster account.
RV hookups will
be on a first come, first served basis with fees
of $40 per night, $30 without hook-ups.
Propane will be available.
The committee to
design a brochure to be used in soliciting ads
and sponsorships will meet on May 4, 2010, at
the Sommerfelts.
ADJOURNMENT
The being no
further business to be discussed at this time,
the meeting was adjourned at 9:50 p.m. The
next meeting will be held on May 25, 2010.
