The meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM.
Visitors: Angela Bass, Whippets; Robin Brown, Whippets; Judith Fondren, Papillons; Denise Jones, Bulldogs; Andrew Smith, interested in Junior Showmanship.
Connie Setzer moved, seconded by DruAnne Martin, that the June minutes be accepted as published. Motion passed.
Reports:
President: Tom Schmidt thanked all who helped with the Obedience Trial.
Corresponding Secretary: Jeanne Ringe read a heartfelt thank-you note from Nancye Davis. Tufts University, Boston MA, Educational Seminar. North Georgia Canine Assoc., Massage Therapy Clinic. Dog Show Calendar 2003 requesting information on our shows next year. E-mail requesting information on Junior Showmanship (Andrew Smith).
Treasurer: Catherine Bell moved, seconded by Steve Merritt, that the Treasurer's report be accepted as read. Motion passed. Jean Dinkins will have a yearly report available next month.
AKC Delegate: Karen Clausing reported that her credentials have been submitted to AKC.
Committees:
Larry Stogner reported that the Obedience Trials were a big success. There were no complaints; everyone was happy with the judges, and we made a profit of $342.28. Having 3 rings allowed for an early finish; however, we should consider having only 2 rings in order to eliminate the expense of a third judge since this did not prove to be cost effective. We should also consider hiring one (of the 2 judges) who can drive rather than fly in order to save some money.
Jeanne Ringe reported that the Agility Trials are on track.
Karen Clausing, Show Chair, and Barbara Price, Cluster Secretary, reported that the Premium List for the Fall shows has been sent to MB-F.
Joy Davis, Trophy Chair, requested that if anyone who had donated trophies wanted to pay, to please see her. She will provide Jean Dinkins with a list of donors since checks should be sent to Jean.
Patricia Hartman, Public Education Coordinator, will set up the information booth on Wednesday and Thursday. There is the possibility that Larry Sorensen from the AKC will be available at the booth from Friday to Sunday. DruAnne Martin has volunteered to go to area schools.
DruAnne Martin has accepted to continue doing Breeders Referral.
Pat Hartman will be in charge of the Eye Clinic, which will take place on Saturday, from 9:00 to 6:00. There will be a Professor of Ophthalmology from U.T. conducting the clinic. Fee $20.00 per dog ($18.00 to the doctor; $2.00 to TVKC). The clinic is open to purebred dogs only; they need not be entered in the show.
DruAnne Martin reported that TVKC needs to renew membership in the American Dog Owners Association. Dues are $50.00. Dru moved, seconded by Catherine Bell, that TVKC renew membership and that we make a $250.00 donation to the Canine Defense Fund and a $50.00 donation to the Education Fund. Motion passed. Jeanne Ringe recommended that people check ADOA's Website as it is very informative.
Garry Clausing reported that the Judges Committee had its first meeting. They will be consulting with Chattanooga KC's committee about sharing judges, etc.
New Business:
Tom Schmidt requested additional volunteers to proofread the Fall's Premium List. Volunteers: Joy Davis, Pat Hartman, Larry Stogner, and Tracy Vittetoe. Tom also reported that there will be many activities going on during the Fall Cluster. A copy of all events will be included in the Newsletter.
Connie Setzer reported that Dennis Belcher, Debbie Casey's husband, had collapsed and was in the hospital awaiting results.
Linda Howard had been hospitalized earlier in the week but was back home.
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:45.
Respectfully submitted,
Roberto A. Jiménez Recording Secretary
