In the absence of the president and the vice-president the meeting was called to order by the recording secretary, Roberto Jimenez in the Sequoyah Room of the UT School of Veterinary Medicine at 7:05 PM.
Visitors David and Debby Smith who have English Cockers were introduced.
The treasurer's report was approved as submitted.
Jeanne Weber Ringe, secretary, read a thank you note from Linda Howard.
DruAnne Martin requested $25 to rent a booth and represent the TVKC in the Knox County/Knoxville Rescue Fair at Chilhowee Park August 24. The $25 expenditure was approved. It was moved that up to $20 be allocated for DruAnne to make copies of a flyer promoting the Fall Cluster. DruAnne is to develop the flyer.
Karen Clausing reported all was on track for the Fall Cluster.
Doris Werdermann announced she is declining as Program Chairman. She will not be arranging for programs after the two she has arranged have been presented. The next program (September) will be Joe Henderson a k-9 handler with the Knox County police department. The October meeting will be Pat Hartman giving a talk on stewarding. Doris mentioned to Joe Henderson that the TVKC is donating a vest for a k-9 dog. There is a dog needing a vest so the gift was well received. She also found that the vests are discounted through WIVK (Dick Family Foundation) for $463.88. Catherine Bell moved we add $278 to our original contribution and provide for 2 vests at the reduced price, motion seconded, and passed. It is hoped that a picture could be provided the News Sentinel for some publicity for the club.
It was requested that a map to Roane State (Agility trial) be published in the next newsletter.
Joy Smith said the trophies are coming along for the Fall Cluster.
Jean Dinkins said that heavy-duty storage shelving was available at $120 a unit. This shelving would provide storage for the ring mats in the storage building. The board is requesting the club buy the shelving. Catherine Bell moved 2 units of shelving be purchased, seconded. Motion passed.
