GENERAL MEETING MINUTES DECEMBER 14, 2002
There was no Board meeting held at this time.
President Tom Schmidt called the meeting to order at 6:55 PM.
The minutes from the November meeting will be sent out with the next (January) Newsletter.
The Treasurer's report will be sent out/available at the next meeting.
AKC Delegate: Karen Clausing reported on many items which were discussed at the December meeting In Orlando. She suggested that people download information (www.akc.org) about "High volume breeders" (formerly known as Puppy Mills...) so that we can be discuss at our next meeting what would be a good procedure to follow. Also, there are other things which we need to know about AKC's new, aggressive Public Relations program. AKC wants to make sure that the American public realizes that they (AKC) are seriously concerned about the welfare of purebred dogs and that they are not just a registering body. (Health concerns, stud book integrity, family oriented activities, etc.)
Karen Clausing noted how many important issues are discussed at the caucuses prior to the actual Delegate's meeting. These items may become a focus of discussion or concern at the meetings later on.
First Reading: Lori Dennis, who owns German Shepherds and Dobermans. Obedience and Agility are her main interests, right now. Karen Service, who owns Australian Shepherds and Shelties. Obedience and Agility are her main interests, right now.
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:14 PM so that the festivities could begin.
Respectfully submitted,
Roberto A. Jimenez
