TENNESSEE VALLEY KENNEL CLUB
GENERAL MEETING MINUTES
JUNE 5, 2003

President Tom Schmidt called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM.

Visitors: Tom Courtaway

Corrections to the May minutes: In the AKC Delegate¹s report, the club¹s vote on whether AKC should change its By-Laws, President Tom Schmidt voted YES, instead of the reported no. Barbara Williams moved, seconded by Nancye Davis, that the
minutes be accepted as amended. Motion Passed.

Treasurer: Jean Dinkins circulated the Treasurer¹s report for May.

Second Reading: Jenni Fleming had her second reading. Nancye Davis moved,
seconded by Steve Merritt, that the rules for ballot voting be suspended. Motion passed. A voice vote was conducted, and Jenni Fleming was elected to membership.

New Business:  Nominations for the Judges Selection Committee were taken from the floor. There being only four nominees, they were appointed to the committee: Nancye Davis, Pat Hartmann, Jan Schmidt, and Larry Stogner.

Twyla Logan announced that she was resigning from the club so that she could concentrate on her upcoming adoption of twin babies.

Nancye Davis reported that Oak Ridge KC will install a new president, Mari DeCuir, and that she will poll her club to see if they would like to join TVKC in forming a cluster. Mrs. DeCuir suggested that our committee (Nancye, Jean Dinkins, Jeanne Ringe, and Tom Schmidt) meet with their Board to discuss this possibility.

It was pointed out that our next club meeting falls on July 3. Jan Schmidt moved,
seconded by Nan Anderson, that we change our meeting to July 10. Motion passed.

Paula Smiddy, Fall Trophy Chair, showed the membership the types of trophies being offered at the fall shows, and their cost. It was an array of items, such as coolers, canvas chairs, suitcases,  briefcases, etc. Most of the items will be monogrammed with the club¹s logo.

Larry Stogner reported that the local Australian Shepherd Club wished to rent the club¹s obedience equipment; he moved, seconded by Charles Price, that we let them use our equipment with a $50.00 refundable fee. Motion passed. Larry also announced that the Obedience Trials will be held on July 5 and 6, at Central High School, and that any and all help will beappreciated. He can be contacted at 577-4176. The Premium List for these trials is available.

Club Donations:  The Board recommended that TVKC donate $5,000.00 to the Canine Health Foundation (up from $3,500.00) and $2,000.00 to U.T. Vet School (up from $1,500.00). Nan Anderson moved, seconded by Linda Howard, that the club do so. Motion passed.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:40 PM so that the club could proceed with the presentation of the yearly awards and enjoy a fabulous and most delicious spread of food.
