PRESS RELEASE - Tennessee Valley Kennel Club Celebrates AKC's
Responsible Dog Ownership Days
This
September, millions of families across the nation will celebrate the American Kennel Club’s Responsible Dog Ownership Days. The month-long celebration is designed to teach the importance of being a conscientious dog owner and celebrate the deep bond between humans and their canine companions. The Tennessee Valley Kennel Club (Knoxville, TN) is sponsoring several canine activities this month (and this fall) in your viewing area that would make great topics for your viewers.AKC Dog Agility Trials: Friday - Sunday, September 10-12, 9 AM - 3:00 PM. East Tennessee Agricultural Exposition Center, 276 Patton Lane, Harriman, TN. FREE!! Three exciting days of competition. Over 100 dogs, large and small. Dog agility is a sport in which a handler directs a dog through an obstacle course in a race for both time and accuracy. Obstacles include: A-frame, dog walk, teeter, table, jumps, and tunnels. Fun to watch! Spectators welcome.
AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Celebration: Saturday, September 11, 9 AM - 3:00 PM. East Tennessee Agricultural Exposition Center, 276 Patton Lane, Harriman, TN. FREE!! Tennessee Valley Kennel Club will celebrate this national event with games, treats, and information about Dog Ownership. Come and sign the Pet Promise petition.
It would be fun to have your TV crew at
the Harriman event (especially on Saturday 9/11) to show the fast and
talented dogs in action. There will be two agility rings set up with
simultaneous competition. It is very entertaining to see the
experienced / world class dogs as well as the novice /
not-sure-what's-going-on-dogs! We could even have you interview some of
our canine friends. There will be many vendors at the site with a wide
variety of canine related paraphernalia. I can envision a "What's This"
or a "I can't believe that you would buy this for a dog!" piece.
We could also have some of our club
members and their canine companions visit you at the studio. We could
bring a couple of pieces of agility equipment for a small demonstration.
I can get some stock footage of a previous agility competition, too.
We would be excited (ARF! ARF!) to
share this canine news with your viewers. We love doing our part to
make Knoxville the nation's pet friendliest city!
