STANDING RULES

(Parenthesis contains the date the rules were passed.)

RULE 1.
These rules may be added to or changed by a 2/3 majority vote of the members in good standing present and voting.  These rules are unique to the Tennessee Valley Kennel Club. Inc., and are not subject to approval of any other body as long as they are not in contradiction with the Constitution and By-Laws of the American Kennel Club.  08/05/04)

RULE 2.
All Standing Rules are to be accepted for a minimum of a one year period, after which they may be changed or deleted.  (08/05/04)

COMMITTEES

 
  •      A. Judges Committee

    1. Approximately fourteen (14 months before a dog show, the Board of Directors shall appoint a Show Chair. Such chair shall appoint his committee of four or more active members, subject to the approval of the Board of Directors. (4/7/05)

    2. Two Judges Committees shall be elected; one for Conformation and one for Companion Events (Obedience, Agility and AKC Rally). The two committees to coordinate when and if necessary. (11/08/07)

    3. The Conformation Judges Committee is to be composed of seven members in good standing with the Tennessee Valley Kennel Club, Inc. Four committee members are to be elected by the Club Membership and three are to be elected by the Board of Directors, one of whom is elected by the Board to serve as chair. (11/08/07)

      1. The Conformation Judges Committee is to be elected annually, the month following the Clubs General Election of Officers. No person is to serve on the Committee more than five years in succession. The duty of this committee is to select judges and their assignments as far in advance as necessary. Specific assignments may be made when a judge is hired in order to secure T.V.K.C.s use of that judge on a specific breed (08/05/04)

      2. If the Club has a two-day show weekend, the Conformation Judges Committee could hire up to three judges for two years out, and two judges for three years out. These judges to be able to judge at least groups and not all have the same group, and at least one All Rounder be hired for a two day show. (9/06/07)

      3. The Conformation  Judges Selection Committee will meet within 30 days of being elected at the June meeting. (11/08/08)

    4. The Companion Events Judges Committee shall hire judges for Agility Trials, Obedience Trials and AKC Rally Trials. This committee shall use the same contract as the Conformation Judges Committee (ll/08/07)

      1. The Companion Events Judges Committee is to be composed of three members in good standing with the Tennessee Valley Kennel Club. One committee member is to be elected by the Board of Directors to serve as chair, two members are to be elected by the Club Membership. These members should be actively competing in Companion Events. (11/08/07)

      2. The Companion Events Judges Committee is to be elected annually, the month following the Clubs General Election of Officers. (11/08/07)

      3. The Companion Events Judges Committee may select all judges up to two years out;, and two judges up to three years out for each venue. (11/08/07)

    5. Any contract to a judge must be signed by a Board member and the Chair of the Judges Selection Committee, with copies to the Treasurer. (8/5/04)

    6. The Club and/or Board of Directors shall form such other committees as are considered desirable.  (08/05/04)

       B. Benevolence Committee

    The Club through the Benevolence Committee will provide flowers in cases of the hospitalization of a member of the club.  Flowers or a memorial donation will be sent upon the death of a member or the death of a member's spouse, parents or children. The benevolence Committee will send a card of sympathy or get-well wishes for all other illness, hospitalization, or in the case of death of other relatives, etc.  (08/05/04)

     

    APPLICANTS

    All persons applying for membership will automatically receive a newsletter in order to be kept informed of TVKC meetings, etc., until they are voted on for membership.  (08/05/04)

     

    DUES

    1. Dues will not be accepted for the ensuing year until all outstanding debts owed to the Club are paid. (08/05/04)

    2. Dues are $20 per person, $10 for newsletter, and $5 per junior.  (04/01/02)

     

    TRAINING CLASSES    

    Club members in good standing will receive free training classes. (08/05/04)

     

    MINUTES    

    Meeting minutes shall be included in the meeting notice for the next club meeting.   (08/05/04)

     

    PLAQUES

    1. Members in good standing may receive an award for title(s) finished in a calendar year.  Provided that they are members of the Club, the Breeder shall receive a certificate and the Owner shall receive a plaque.  Only one plaque shall be awarded per dog at the Club's expense.  (08/05/04)

    2. Members may have the option to choose between an Individual Plaque or an Engraved Name Plate.  (08/05/04)

     

    TROPHIES

    1. TVKC members shall have priority on choosing trophy sponsorship.  Non-members are welcome to sponsor trophies in categories not taken by members.  Non-members will pay when pledged. (08/05/04)

    2. The show trophies Chairperson is to bill trophy sponsors within 30 days of contact of the pledge with a copy of the billing to the treasurer, any pledge to be made payable to the Tennessee Valley Kennel Club, Inc.  If the bill for a trophy pledge is not paid at the time of the premium list submission, the trophy sponsors name will be deleted from the listings.  (11/08/08)

    1. Any trophy donated to the TVKC shall become the club's property. (10/7/04)

     

    VIDEO LIBRARY

    1. The Public Education Coordinator (PEC) is responsible for ordering and maintaining videos For the TVKC Library.  The videos will be stored in protective containers that are provided by TVKC and in the care of the PEC.  (08/05/04)

    2. The PEC will provide Club members with a list of the videos available in the Library.  Club members may make requests to order certain videos for the Library.  (08/05/040

    3. Club members may contact the PEC and make arrangements to borrow a video from the Library.  The PEC can bring videos to Club meetings or make other arrangements that are convenient for the PEC and the Club member.  (08/05/04)

    4. Club members will sign out the video and that member will become solely responsible for the condition and the return of the video to the Library until it is signed back into the Library.  (08/05/04)

    5. Only Club members in good standing may borrow for the TVKC Library.  (08/05/04)

    6. Videos may be checked out for a maximum of one month;  no more that three videos will be loaned per household at any one time.  (08/05/04)

    7. Any member not returning a video after two months will not be in good standing with the Club. (08/05/04)

    8. Any member returning a tape that is damaged will be required to pay for a replacement and will not be in good standing until payment is made to the Club.  (08/05/04)

    9. Any member who loses a video will be required to pay for a replacement and will not be in good standing until payment is made to the Club  (08/05/04)

     

    MISCELLANEOUS

    1. Prior to each AKC meeting, The TVKC Delegate to the AKC will present a summary of the items to be discussed.  (08/05/04)

    2. Expenditures over $500.00, with the exclusion of show expenses, should be voted by ballot by the general membership  (08/05/04)

    3. Only items which are Club and/or dog related may be put in the newsletter (08/05/04)

    4. Performance Events Chairmen shall be appointed 9 months prior the event.  (08/05/04)
