How long have you been active in the sport? Almost 5 years
What is your favorite competition/sport? Fast CAT
What other areas of competition interest you? ConformationFast CAT
How long have you been a member of the TKVC? 4 years
Do you compete in Owner Handler? Yes
How did you become interested in our sport? I have raised Siberians in the past, and had always wanted to show. I got a what I thought was a really nice male and started taking conformation classes. Then I learned that I just thought I knew my breed. I want to learn all I can.
Tell us about your most memorable moment in our sport? When the male I had been told repeatedly would never finish actually finished his Champion title in Chattanooga September 2020.
Other than that, it would have to be falling in the ring a couple of years ago and having a super nice Great Dane person scream "Handler change" and took Kash from me and continued showing without missing a beat while I hobbled out of the ring.
What is it that attracted you to the TVKC? I had first emailed Janis to inquire about conformation classes, and she explained how I needed to do all I could, and was invited to conformation classes in Knoxville, so I make the trek to Knoxville from the GA state line as often as I can. I was welcomed from the start, and I am so thankful for that.
What do you like most about being a member of TVKC? I love how all the members are all about supporting each other and offering invaluable advice on what to do and what not to do. It should be about lifting people up, and the members most definitely do.
Do you think TVKC meets your needs as a member? If not what areas would you like to see improvements in? I love being a member.
How do your dogs impact your life? I would not be who I am without my dogs. Nothing beats coming home at the end of a rough day and having having the dogs here to greet me and are genuinely happy to see me no matter what.
Is there anything that you would like to share? Huge THANK YOU to Erin and Cheryl for talking me into letting Sage have her adventure and letting her be a part of the movie Togo - having her help tell the story of the dog who helped found the Siberian Husky breed. She really almost didn't go!
