How did you become interested in our sport? As an anniversary present, my husband purchased me a little red and white, male Bulldog. The breeder, who has become a dear friend, convinced me to take this standard male to a AKC sanctioned puppy match in Chattanooga. He won breed and the Non-Sporting Group that day, and I was hooked! He turned out to be my first show dog and my first champion.
Tell us about your most memorable moment in our sport? There are several but the one that is very special to me! In 2016, my first champion, Ollie, was awarded his very first Best In Specialty Show win under legendary breeder-judge, Mrs. Jean Hetherington at the Bulldog Club of America Division VII in Charlotte, NC. Every Best In Specialty Show win has been special, but this one was truly an honor and a once in a lifetime moment.
What is it that attracted you to the TVKC? I have attended the TVKC shows since 2015 and feel this is a way to give back to the club.
What do you like most about being a member of TVKC? The ability to gather and share information with fellow dog enthusiasts. I have found TVKC to be a great educational resource for dog sports and dog health in the Knoxville area.
Do you think TVKC meets your needs as a member? If not what areas would you like to see improvements in? Absolutely! It is great club to gather and share information with other breeders and exhibitors.
How do your dogs impact your life? My dogs keep me active and on the go! My evenings are spent training for scent work trials and conformation shows. My girls and I also serve in the H.A.B.I.T. program, which is so rewarding for us! I cannot imagine my life without Bulldogs.
Is there anything that you would like to share? I am a member of the Bulldog Club of America (BCA) and serve as the Treasurer for BCA Division VIII. Additionally, I am part of the BCA Breeder Referral program for Tennessee. I feel it is important to assist people in finding Bulldog breeders that health test and share a similar passion for breed preservation.
