How did you become interested in our sport? I started with Beagle field trials. I love hearing a good pack of beagles trailing a good rabbit. I won the AKC National Field Trial and the United Beagle Gundog Federation with a lovely dog named Shadrack. He was a great running dog, and a field champion, and had the correct conformation to also finish his conformation championship, earning him the title of Dual Champion beagle, a feat that hasn’t been accomplished since the 1940’s and none since.
Tell us about your most memorable moment in our sport? I moved to the Conformation aspect of AKC in the middle 1990’s. I imported a really nice female beagle from Australia and finished every puppy she whelped (bred to a Westminster breed winner). These lines are still behind many of our current show dogs. I also was fortunate to find a really good Chihuahua male that I showed and he garnered three all breed Bests, won the variety at National Specialties, and won breed at the AKC National twice.
What is it that attracted you to the TVKC? I’m now local, and when home will be available to help out.
