Are you an Active breeder? No
How long have you been active in the sport? I first showed my first Cardi from about 2001 to 2007 and then started showing again in 2016.
What is your favorite competition/sport? Conformation
What other areas of competition interest you? ConformationAgilityFast CAT
How long have you been a member of the TKVC? 5 to 6 years
Do you compete in Owner Handler? Yes
How did you become interested in our sport? A family member started breeding Cardigans and asked me to get involved. I started with absolutely no knowledge of the sport and gradually learned some of the basics. I really did not have any real education on conformation until I joined TVKC and and found so many members willing to share their knowledge and experience.
Tell us about your most memorable moment in our sport? When my Jescie won her first 4 point major at our Knoxville show, I was elated. Prior to that show, we had shown very few times and she had only 1 point.
What is it that attracted you to the TVKC? I had fallen in love with Cardigans when we got our first one in 1999 and I wanted everyone to know this great breed. But I felt that I needed to know more about the breed, the activities where they compete and how to promote and encourage responsible breeding. This Club offers educational and training opportunities plus great support from the membership.
What do you like most about being a member of TVKC? I like to engage in activities with other responsible dog owners. The Club is also a place where I can continue to learn how to better care for my own dogs and the breed in general.
How do your dogs impact your life? I cannot imagine life without my dogs; my daily life revolves around their needs and I love it that way.
Is there anything that you would like to share? I bred my first (and likely only) litter this past fall and it was a wonderful experience. I would never have dared to do this without all the encouragement from my mentor, Cheryl Kienast. So many club members contributed support from conformation classes to whelping hints and I would like to say "Thanks".
